Spicy warmth
Spicy flavors and a good meal to warm your insides on a cold winter day. This is one of my personal favorites. Plenty of protein to keep me going on a cold day’s hike.
Backpacker's Pantry
Thank you for your kind review, Chris! We're so glad you enjoyed your Louisiana Red Beans & Rice!

Spicy & On the lighter side
I ate this as part of my dinner during a summer backpacking trip in Olympic National Park. Spicier than I expected but not very hot or anything (& I like the heat.) This is either best as a side dish or if this is your main entree you probably need to add a few other things - I accompanied this pouch with nuts, cheese, dessert, etc., in order to get enough to eat. I am pleased however that this is a vegetarian recipe and have ordered it again.

Spicy warmer-upper
Not only an excellent source of protein, but a great meal to warm your insides. Spicy and flavorful! This one is one of my favorites! I also like that it’s a single serving package.

Shorted me the 10% discount
Shorted me the 10% discount on my $100+ order and half a dozen emails to CS later not a single response. The stuff I ordered was OK, but the several 10% discount emails I got are a marketing fraud apparently. Go figure.

Tasty Fuel for the Trail
I utilized the Louisiana Red Beans & Rice as my main fuel source for two climbs of Mt. Rainier. It has a good amount of protein, stays warm once heated, and tastes great. It is also one of our favorite vegetarian staples for backpacking. It is nice that it has some flavor compared to some bean and rice combos.

Hearty
It is good but it is fairly spicy. You will have to be hungry to eat the whole thing.
