Taste great! Nothing better than food yu enjoy after a long day hunting in the mountains!
My friends kept saying that dehydrated Pad Thai was disgusting. And they "knew from experience". But those foolios had never had BACKPACKERS m**** f***** PANTRY Pad Thai. And guess what, they still haven't because I ate the whole thing without sharing. It was delicious

Hi Bruce, thank you for your honest feedback and for appreciating our product. We’ll keep working to offer great options for you. Looking forward to serving you again!
Overall a tasty and fulfilling meal. I like savory well seasoned food but was surprised by the sweetness of sugar; it was a strong enough flavor to be detected, and confirmed when I read the ingredients. Adding garlic salt, and pepper did not distract from the sugar taste.
Always the best
This is one of our favorite Gluten-Free meals. A nice diversion from our normal fare.
Delicious, filling, a bit spicy
Hey Nell,
Glad you enjoyed our meal! Have fun out their!
I have been buying this meal for the past 5 years or so to take with me on hunting trips, loved how the siracha power and lime salt with peanuts came to garnish the meal! Very filling and made very well in my opinion! I know its a 2 serving meal but its too easy to eat the whole thing in one sitting, especially after a long day of hunting. I have seen the recent reviews on the updated recipe and packaging and it kind of concerns me, ill be ordering one meal before the hunt to test it.
Hey Connor,
In an attempt to cut back on waste, we have added the lime and siracha to the recipe and now only offer the peanuts and peanut butter to add as needed.
Let us know what you think!

Everyone who camps with me knows that I’m a BP Pad Thai guy. That’s because it has been my absolute favorite meal to eat while in the backcountry for YEARS! So delicious, comes with all the fixin’s, and it’s just as easy to prepare as all of their other meal options… with the ability to add to or keep simple. Don’t hesitate to toss some of these ones in your cart. You won’t be disappointed, because you would be if you get another company’s pad thai; there really is a difference.
Thank you for such a fantastic review, Daniel! We are so glad you enjoy our Pad Thai, and we hope you will continue to choose it for many years to come!
I'm pretty sure that BP's pad Thai with chicken is the undisputed king of backpacking meals. I can't fault it in any way! It's exactly the meal I reach for after a grueling hiking day. Yes, the calories and sodium are high. That's what I want when hiking!
Thank you for the great review, Anna! We will gladly accept that crown!
Pad Thai With Chicken is definitely my favorite. So much flavor. Love that it’s spicy too.
It doesn’t get much better than this after a long day walking in the woods. I always pack and extra packet of chicken and some tortillas to go with it.
Thanks for the great review, Collin! We are so glad you enjoy- and what a great idea!
Probably the best (or at least my favorite) backpacking meal of all the Backpackers Pantry meals. It’s so nice to get some unique flavors with the amazing crunch and texture of the peanuts while being hundreds of miles away from civilization. This is always my go-to meal. Rehydrates easily and tastes fantastic.
Thank you for leaving such a great review, Matt! We are so glad you love our Pad Thai as much as we do!
While I've yet to try this meal, I am confident in its quality and taste because Backpacker's Pantry hasn't let me down yet! I'm expanding my horizons with this choice, not my normal menu item but it'll be a long tour and I want variety! Great caring company, too...
Thank you, Rodney! We hope you enjoy our Pad Thai with Chicken as much as the rest of our meals. Have a great tour!
Easy to make, great flavor, just add the water slowly so that it doesn’t get goopy.
A little too spicy for me. It takes away from the other flavors in the dish.
Hi Christopher! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are so sorry to hear that you didn't love the spice level in our Pad Thai. We take your feedback very seriously, and we will definitely keep this in mind as we continue to test and update our recipe. Thank you!
Pad Thai use to be a family favourite having the lime and sriracha packages separate so you can add as much or little heat as you like. The lasted version was all mixed together and unfortunately was too spicy for our family. :( It was a bummer because it was the best! I believe traditionally pad Thai isn’t spicy! Would be nice or go back to the original way if possible!! Or a non spicy version as well
Hi Michelle! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review! We're sorry to hear that you don't love the Pad Thai changes. We will definitely keep this feedback in mind!
Great taste
Super easy! Add 1.5 cups boiling water, stir, seal, wait, stir, seal wait, eat. Total wait under 20 minutes. If you’re using a fork to stir, be careful not to puncture the bag!😉. Very flavorful!
This meal was god-tier. Easily the best backpacking meal on the market. Recent versions, however, have went from having separate lime, spice, etc. Packets to having most of it mixed it. It's now impossible to make it to your desired spice level preference. I love spice, but some nights in the backcountry I don't want the new base level of spice. Still delicious, but I definitely wish it was the way it used to be.
This is one of my staples & I include it on nearly every backpacking trip
They taste great, Awesome meals!
This is by far my favorite freeze dried meal. Period.
And I've tried a bunch from all the major (and even less than major) brands.
Having the Lime, Siracha, Peanut Butter, and Peanuts in separate packages really allows for customization of the flavor and the experience of the meal. If the path leaves you in the need for a less spicy option, just add less, or leave the siracha out all together. Like or don't like lime? Same story.
This meal will always accompany me for a minimum of one meal on my journeys.
I had it before, and remembered it was tasty. However, my order was canceled silently by Backpacker without any communication. I would appreciate if you just tell me it's back ordered and deliver it later. Now I don't know if I should venture ordering it again and suffer the silent cancelation again?
A favorite of our Boy Scout Troop. They especially like the added flavor packet to spice it up to their taste.
My son and I have been sampling some freeze-dried meals as part of our prep for our Emergency Kits, and this has been one of our favourites. Our only suggestion for Backpacker’s Pantry would be to carefully check the expiry dates on the peanut butter packets - the expiry date on the Pad Thai meal was 2024-04-13 but the expiry date on the peanut butter packet was 2022-09-02. In an emergency, we’d eat it anyway, but for QC purposes it really shouldn’t be too difficult to align the expiry dates better.
Hey Shelley,
Thank you for the great review. We are sorry to hear about the discrepancy in expiration dates.
We are going to look into the matter, but we'd be happy to send out a replacement if you are interested. If so please let me know a good address and we will get one sent out!
Thanks!
-Aidan
This was probably in the top 2 all-time favorites for backpack meals. Almost too much food. Very filling.
Great filling meal and the custom spice packets are excellent!
Definitely flavorful and filling, a true comfort dish worth having on hand 😊
