The mango sticky rice was pretty good. I would get it again
I had thought about bringing this as a desert, given the sugar content and cocounut, but even at sea level the rice did not soften adequately and I wasn't crazy about the overall consistency. I ate half the bag and threw the rest away.
Hi Steve, thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry the Mango Sticky Rice didn't meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback and will look into improving the texture. If you'd like, please contact us directly to discuss a replacement or refund.

Did I get a bad mix? It was inedible. Neither my wife nor I could do more than a bite each. It was so overwhelmingly flavored like.... Turmeric. Which upon further inspection is an actual incredient in this dish. Why? I was pretty annoyed to have to pack this out on my backpacking trip. Highly recommend not purchasing this.

My partner loves this stuff! It's a must have for our trips.
Thanks for the kind words, Mark! Have fun out there!

This was a fun treat to have on trail. I almost wish I had eaten for a breakfast instead of dessert. Great paired with the chicken Pad Thai.
Thanks for the great review, Emily! We are so glad you enjoyed our Mango Sticky Rice. And yes, it is great as breakfast and as dessert!
I'm perplexed by the good reviews for this. Neither my husband nor I could eat more than 2 bites. It's not sweet, it's not fruity, it's definitely not like any sticky rice we've ever had served to us in restaurants. It's like a savory rice side dish if I had to name it. I would not bother bringing it backpacking for a rice side dish.
Hi Shelley,
We are so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our Mango Sticky Rice. It is difficult to replicate the traditional sticky texture in a rehydrated meal, but we hope that our version of Mango Sticky Rice can still provide a fun and unique flavor during long days on trail. We are very sorry this one was not for you!
We usually eat the mango sticky rice for breakfast, we add some bananas or other fruits we happen to have. The whole family enjoys it tremendously. It's a nice alternative to oatmeal and on the days we are more in a rush to get moving it's quick and satisfying. Nice balance of sweet and spice (turmeric). This has been a go-to for breakfast for years, please don't drop this one BP!
SO GOOD!!! Great as a dessert.
Unfortunately, I am allergic to oats and I avoid high sodium, so my breakfast options are very limited when eating freeze-dried meals. I gave these a try and love them. As others have stated, this is more savory than a traditional dessert, so they're my current go-to breakfast while backpacking or hunting.
A group of us tried this and we all found it to be pretty bland except for a heavy taster of turmeric. It was like bland sweetened turmeric rice with no mango flavor. We ended up not eating most of it because we found it so unpalatable.
While the dessert was flavorful I was expecting it to be a little sweeter. This is mostly because of past experiences I have had eating sticky rice at restaurants.
Was expecting something sweeter and with more mango flavor. It is heavy on the turmeric and tasted kinda like bland sweet turmeric rice more than mango sticky rice. The three other people with me agreed to wasn’t very tasty and we ended up not eating most of it unfortunately.
My son and I were waiting for a great taste of mango sticky rice. We talked about how much we love this dish. As we took the first spoon full it was apparent that there was no taste of mango sticky rice in this package as turmeric overwhelmed our test buds. It was very said as we loved all the other meals from this company.
I’m sorry to say but Turmeric has no place in mango sticky rice.
I was so excited to try this one out! The cons are: you used regular long grain rice, not sticky rice, the coconut flavor was too light, way too light on sweetness, and 1.5 cups of water produced a very runny product (that would be easily forgiven if the flavor profile wasn’t so washed out).
I would love for you guys to take another run at this. The current formulation just isn’t worth it.
Delicious, filling, and just the right balance of sweet and earthy. This was one of the few foods I never got sick of on the PCT. Makes a great breakfast or dessert and I love all the turmeric (anti-inflammatory!).
My wife and I like sticky rice, so I think our hopes were pretty high for this one. It was good! It isn't fresh sticky rice, but it isn't worlds away either.
This was heavy on the turmeric. I immediately felt like I was eating a curry dish rather than a dessert. We didn’t end up finishing this dish.
I ended up throwing away probably around half or more, the more I ate the more distasteful it became to me... If you are looking for a nice treat or a tasty break I'd look for a different meal.
I was really looking forward to this treat but it was not a treat at all. If you've had authentic mango sticky rice, this not the item you'll want to get. Main ingredient is long grain rice, originally it would call for sweet/glutinous rice. Also, that turmeric, that over powdered the coconut and mango taste. There was not enough coconut flavoring. Boy i was disappointed. If I could, I wouldn not give it a star at all. Definitely not going to be buy this again.
This is a perfect balance between the flavoring of fruity and sweet. Its a great way to start the day or end the day.
