    Excellent Mountain Meal

The crew wanted to know what I was eating because it smelled so good. This is the first one on my list for reordering. I was fueled up and ready with a fine meal for the long walk out.

Once again...thanks for the kind words!

    Unexpected Flavors

Drunken Noodles is one of my favorite Thai dishes, but this dish definitely did not taste like its namesake. The sauce had a weird aftertaste to it and was missing the regular umami you get from fish sauce. The vegetables also didn’t match the flavor profile of the dish. It was one of the first times I didn’t want to finish my meal in the backcountry which was a bummer.

    Hey Hazel,

I am very sorry you had that experience with our meal. Please reach out to me at sean@americanoutdoorproducts.com and we will make this up to you.

So-so. Get the Pad Thai Instead.

My husband and I were so excited to try this meal because we absolutely love the Pad Thai meal and thought this would be a nice way to change things up a bit while still enjoying an Asian-inspired meal while backpacking. It was edible and better than some backpacking meals we’ve tried but left us feeling meh. The flavor just wasn’t there and the chicken texture was off. We ate it, but it isn’t a meal we will buy again.

    Super Good

I was surprised at how super good this was. Gave my buddy some and he loved it too. Definitely getting this again and again. Perfect with Sriracha.

Thank you Jake! We are so glad you enjoyed our Drunken Noodles with Chicken. The addition of siracha is a great idea!

    Too spicy and weird flavor

A little too spicy and a weird flavor that I could barely finish, but did only for the calories while backpacking. If the sauce had been better, I'd have said it wasn't sauced enough. A bit dry. My husband did not like it either (sadly, since that meant I couldn't trade lol).

Tastes like it's from your fav Thai restaurant!

Honestly, the most important part of backpacking for me is the food. I'm a big advocate for working hard and then eating better. I am always skeptical of dehydrated camp food because I find a lot of the time it never tastes as good as the original once it's rehydrated (or has a weird texture!), but these drunken noodles have proved me wrong! From the mixture of spices to the texture to the well-rounded flavor I was SO impressed. I will definitely be bringing these on many upcoming adventures.

I really wanted to like this..

I really wanted to like this and was excited when this came out (so excited that I bought two of them) but overall, it was a pretty big disappointment. My wife and I tried this while backpacking this weekend and neither of us liked it and unfortunately couldn't even finish half-of it. It seemed to re-hydrate properly and the broccoli was still crunchy but I didn't really care for that aspect. The worst part was the flavor was really subtle and what was there was really confusing. I'm just not sure what the goal was. I've had Drunken Noodles in restaurants several times, but this was a bit of a swing and a miss. I have several other BP meals that I'll buy over and over but this will be a one and done for me. Now I just need to figure out who to give my second bag of this too. I'll stick with my tried-and-true regulars for now on.

    Tasty

After a long day of biking and dealing with a windstorm, it made dinner that much simpler and delicious. It's nice to have a couple of these ready for when you are feeling tired and want something that still tastes great!

Thanks for the great review, Gary! So glad you had some Drunken Noodles on hand!

Such a treat in the backcountry!

I <3 drunken noodles in the real world and so I was really excited to see this new meal! The flavor did not disappoint and the consistency was solid. Having the chicken in there made it feel like a substantial meal to share with my partner. I have celiac and so I always appreciate meals marked gluten free, and I had no negative reaction (yay!). Also, we were eating this in Needles in Canyonlands NP and realized that the illustration might be from Needles?!?! Can anyone confirm? Anyway it was a great meal and I will definitely come back to this flavor.

Just Like From My Favorite Restaurant

A new must-have in the pack. BP has turned it up a notch with this new meal, with rich, authentic flavors that had me guessing whether I was just eating take out from the Thai restaurant down the road. Perfect balance of spice and savory goodness, and the perrrrrrfect amount of lemongrass coming through!

    One of my new favs!

I have been a Pad Thai with Chicken fan-girl for a long time and can honestly say that Drunken Noodles with Chicken is now tied with Pad Thai as my new favorite!! The flavors in the sauce, thick noodles, and the fact that it's packed with chicken and veggies all contribute to it being so yummy! Highly recommend!

    New backcountry dinner staple!

I'm a huge fan of BP's Pad Thai, so I was stoked to see this addition to their dinner entrees! It did not disappoint - the sauce really tied it all together, and it's GOOD. I love that there's a solid mix of veggies and a ton of protein for longer days. I took this one out skiing with me, and loved having a quick, hot meal that took no extra thought or effort to pack when I left the house early.

    Thai goodness!

I was excited to see a new Thai-inspired meal option so I had to order some, and this is my new favorite from Backpacker's Pantry! The combination of noodles, chicken, veggies and sauce is exactly what I want after a long day on the trail. I also like how the packages contain two servings for two people or one extra hungry person after an intense day. I am absolutely buying some more Drunken Noodle meals!

Yum! I loved the tangy flavor and the texture of the rice noodles in this meal. It was really filling and so easy to make. Really levels up an outdoor adventure.
