Here at Backpacker’s Pantry, we’re passionate about bringing new food, fresh flavors and delicious recipes to your outdoor adventures and emergency food kit. It’s something we think about all year long, whether we’re cooking at home or exploring far-flung corners of the globe. Our chef jots down notes whenever inspiration strikes, often on paper napkins (when you’ve just had the best meal of your life, you improvise.) Then, it’s time to create new meals in freeze-dried form.
Other times, we create new backpacking, camping, and emergency freeze-dried meals after learning about the recent availability of an exciting new ingredient. After discovering freeze-dried capers, we knew we had to come up with a Risotto with Chicken meal worthy of the best Italian restaurants. Our customers also play a big role in new meals — your feedback has led to several tasty additions throughout the years. We also keep our ear to the ground watching for food trends and nutritional advancements. That’s why we’ve updated some of our bestsellers to include more protein and less sodium.
This process of discovering and creating new freeze-dried food is ongoing. But, we kick things up a notch at the beginning of the year. Each January, Backpacker’s Pantry pays a visit to the test kitchen to bring new ideas for breakfasts, lunches and dinners to life. And since we want as many people as possible to enjoy our delicious freeze-dried meals, you know there will always be new paleo, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options to devour, too.
